Skateboarding aesthetic or Skater Style, as a subcategory of Streetwear feels young and untamed. Through its unconventional look and feel, skater style communicates:

  • Youth
  • Freedom
  • Confidence
  • Comfortable and practical apparel
  • A dose craziness

Being in the game for more than 30 years, skateboarding proved to be more of a culture and lifestyle than just a sport with a specific dress code (as Jaden Smith points out in our video below).

It’s set its roots in the early 90s while we observe a pick between 2000 and 2010, being widely adopted by young people.

How to *feel* the skateboarding aesthetic

Skateboarding aesthetic — The Apparel

The only rule that defines the skateboarding clothing style is that you can wear whatever you want however you like to wear it, as long as it represents you, and makes you feel comfortable!

Although there are no rules, the most popular outfits we see skaters wear, include graphic T-Shirts, straight/regular-fit pants, and skate shoes. The style is unisex.

To break it down:

T-Shirts, Hoodies, Jackets

Graphic-printed, or blank tees, either loose or not, but in any case comfortable (not tight). So for the upper body, we’ve got:

  • T-Shirts
  • Sleeveless Tees
  • Plaid Shirts
  • Hoodies
  • Jackets

Pants & Shorts

For the pants/shorts style now, you have to choose between loose, regular, or tight fit

  • Denim
  • Cargo
  • Chino
  • Tracksuits & Leggings

Skateboarding Shoes

Skateboarding shoes are comfortable and look very similar to sneakers, with the exception that they are specifically built to absorb the jumps shocks, and are durable enough to handle the abrasion caused by the grip.
